Welcome to Ancestral Journeys, my genealogy research blog. Researching one's ancestors is like taking a journey back through time. Each of our ancestors have a story and those stories are waiting to be told. I hope to do that, as well as outline research methods and other information relating to genealogy and family history. Even if we do not share the same ancestry, I hope you will find some of the discussion and ideas of benefit. For my complete profile, click on the 'About' tab at the top of the page.

Updates

Posted by dwsuddarth on 7 November 2009

I have updated and continue to work on the Suddarth pages of this site.  I have added pages for James Suddarth, born 1795 in Virginia, who I have discussed quite a bit on the blog.  In addition, I have put in a page for Patience Suddarth.  I don’t know much about Patience.  I think she may be the mother of Lewis Suddarth, but I really do not have anything to support that theory other than the 1820 Crawford County, Indiana census.  I do not feel that this is enough to state anything regarding the relationship between Patience and Lewis.

  1. Hi David – we spoke several times, a year or so ago, and you asked if I could talk my father into taking a dna test since he is one of the last remaining original direct line male Suddarth’s from Albemarle Co., Va. I just visited him last week – he will soon be 92. I told him that he may hold the key to many unanswered questions about our original forefather’s who first came to the US. He has agreed to take the dna test if your offer still stands – he won’t pay for it though – like most older folks from the depression, he is very tight with his money
