Genealogical research and thoughts

  • David W. Suddarth

Welcome to Ancestral Journeys, my genealogy research blog. Researching one's ancestors is like taking a journey back through time. Each of our ancestors have a story and those stories are waiting to be told. I hope to do that, as well as outline research methods and other information relating to genealogy and family history. Even if we do not share the same ancestry, I hope you will find some of the discussion and ideas of benefit. For my complete profile, click on the 'About' tab at the top of the page.

Lewis Suddarth

According to census records, Lewis Suddarth was born around 1812 in Kentucky.  He came to Southern Indiana sometime before 1835, as he is recorded as swearing to the groom’s father’s consent for the marriage of Charles Riddle and Susan Scott in Crawford County, Indiana on 26 August 1835.  Exactly four years later, on 26 August 1839, Lewis married Lydia Stroud in Orange County, Indiana, just to the North of Crawford County.

Lewis and Lydia’s first child, James T. Suddarth, was born 13 January 1841.  They would have a total of 11 children, the last in 1868.  Lewis died sometime in late 1868 or 1869.  Lydia died September 1898.  They are buried at Highfill Chapel Cemetery in Taswell, Crawford County, Indiana.
