My husband's family is descended from Lewis Suddarth & his wife, Lydia Stroud. My husband's uncle, Chester Suddarth told me that Victoria Suddarth was a servant in Ireland. Her employer took advantage of her, and when he realized she was pregnant, sent her to America to hide what he'd done. Victoria arrived about 1810. According to Uncle Chester, she had two sons: Jerry L. and Lewis, but she never married.

I don't know if this story is true or not, but it's the family folklore that has been passed down. The research that I've been able to do thus far has always confirmed what Uncle Chester said.

Hope this helps with your research.
